The Winslow Historical Society Santa Fe
Archive is composed of over 40,000
documents, including a substantial
collection of architectural drawings,
photographs and text. These items were
donated to the Historical Society by the
Santa Fe Railroad and La Posada Hotel.
When they were received, most of the
documents were in total disarray and many
were piled in stacks on the basement floors
of La Posada Hotel. In 2000, George Shaw
began the labor intensive process of
sorting, identify and storing the drawings
for preservation. Along the way he has been
assisted by Winslow volunteers. Today, the
drawings are stored and protected in
archival flat files. George and his
volunteers have begun to for a catalog of
the documents and have been logging their
information into a computer data base.
There is much work left to be done, but
today these documents are being
preserved and recognized an important
historical asset.
